Day 26 Tolmin

Today's walk resembled earlier ones with a steep climb in the morning to a chapel perched on a hilltop, followed by a long descent back to the valley floor.

The chapel was built during WW1 to commemorate Italian soldiers killed on the Isonzo Front in battles against the Austrians.

The afternoon walk back down the valley gave us our first good look at rural Slovenian life. Similiar to their Austrian neighbours but lower key and it appears, a bit poorer. Slovenians are more relaxed and easier going.  It was a beautiful valley and we all thought we could happily spend more time here.
